## Washington Wild Things Win Frontier League Championship Title Back at Wild Things Park for First Time in 15 Years **Third Win in Franchise History** WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Washington Wild Things defeated the Québec Capitales 5-2 on Saturday night at Wild Things Park to win their third Frontier League championship in franchise history. The Wild Things scored two runs in the first inning on an RBI single by Keon Johnson and a sacrifice fly by Matt Phipps. They added another run in the second inning on a solo home run by Tyler Nelms. Québec got on the board in the third inning on an RBI single by Edwin Garcia. They cut the lead to 3-2 in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by TJ White. But the Wild Things got back to back solo home runs by Johnson and Caleb Summers in the sixth inning. Wild Things starter John Havird pitched 5.2 innings, allowing two runs on six hits. He struck out seven batters and walked two. Wild Things manager Gregg Langbehn was proud of his team's effort. "They never gave up all year long," he said. "They always believed in themselves." The championship is the Wild Things' first since 2008. It is also the first time they have won the title at Wild Things Park. "It's a great feeling to win it here in front of our fans," said Wild Things captain Danny Amaral. "It's a special moment for everyone involved." The Wild Things will represent the Frontier League in the American Association/Frontier League Championship Series. They will face the Lake Country DockHounds in a best-of-five series starting on Tuesday night in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.
